Half Moon Bay Beach Safety Run

The Half Moon Bay Beach Safety Run will take place on Saturday, September 19 at the Pillar Point Harbor in Half Moon Bay, located at 1 Johnson Pier, Half Moon Bay, CA 94019. This destination event will host 2 Mile, 5K (3.1 mile) and 10K (6.2 mile) courses that will showcase the beautiful Pacific coastline of Half Moon Bay, Pillar Point Harbor and its docks of colorful fishing boats, ever-present ocean views from the Pillar Point Marsh Trail, and of course the refreshing salty sea breeze. A noncompetitive Kids Fun Run (1/4 Mile) for ages 10 and under will conclude the morning. 2025 Race Results : Link here The event is organized by and a benefit for the Arunay Foundation, who is committed to reducing beach accidents and coastal drownings by raising awareness and educating people about sneaker waves, rip currents, and other hazardous beach conditions. Their goal is to equip our beaches with “Life Rings” and keep our communities informed about unsafe weather conditions. Learn more about their mission and projects: Click here . As a community, we cannot make a difference without your support and help. Together, we can raise awareness and make our beaches safer. All proceeds from this event will be used by the Arunay Foundation to support their programs that improve beach safety. The Arunay Foundation was created to transform grief into purpose—raising awareness about the very real dangers of sneaker waves and educating others on beach and ocean safety. Most beachgoers are unaware that sneaker waves on the West Coast claim more lives annually than all other weather-related hazards combined. The rugged coasts of California, Oregon, and Washington, though breathtakingly beautiful, can be perilous. Arunay's parents didn’t know the risks—what sneaker waves were, how to recognize hazardous conditions, or what life-saving actions to take. They believe that with the right awareness and resources, such losses can be prevented. Guided by Arunay’s light, their mission is to ensure that a day at the beach always ends with laughter—not loss. The Arunay Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization (EIN: 87-3499812). All donations to Arunay Foundation are tax-deductible.

Rocky Ridge

This is the race your momma warned you about! The half marathon cannot be described as "flat and fast" or "good for beginners" or with any other nice phrase. In fact, the phrases most commonly used to describe it would be unprintable. But...once you finish the course, you will have experienced trails and seen views that few others ever will. And you will have a lifetime of bragging rights! The 10K and 5K are not quite as intense as the half marathon, but don't worry, those runners will also be challenged with some hills and rewarded with some rarely-seen vistas. If you are one of those brave souls ready to face either victory occasion and face this beast, come join us on September 19, 2026!
